Electrode Protection

Problem: Overvoltage / Overtemperature

In most AEDs the pads that deliver the shock also contain the sensors for the patients vital signs. The high voltage shock from the defibrillator can cause damage to the electrodes.

Solution: Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs).

Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs) help protect the sensitive data transmission lines equipment by switching to a low impedance state, and diverting energy away from the equipment. Due to their low capacitance, the GDTs introduce much less signal distortion than other overvoltage protection technologies.
