DC Input Power Port Protection

Problem: Inductive voltage spikes and overcurrent from a short-circuit

Aftermarket adapters and universal chargers are widely used. When an unsuitable or faulty adapter is plugged into electronic equipment the applied voltage, polarity, and permitted current may exceed the specifications of the power regulation circuits. This can damage the equipment and could become a safety concern.

 

Solution: PolySwitch devices.

PolySwitch devices help protect against overcurrent and overtemperature fault conditions by limiting the flow of current in the DC input power port circuit.

Problem: Inductive voltage spikes and overcurrent from a short-circuit

Solution: PolyZen devices.

PolyZen devices help lock out inappropriate power suppliers. When a power supply with an improper voltage is connected to the equipment, the PolyZen device helps clamp the voltage, shunts excess power to ground, and eventually locks out the wrong supply. The PolyZen device is effective at helping clamp and smooth inductive voltage spikes.
