I/O Port (Memory Card Slot) Protection

Problem: Overcurrent (in-rush) Limiting

PCB (printed circuit board) traces behind the pins can over heat and be damaged from an overcurrent event caused by faulty cards or foreign objects inserted in the slot.
 

Solution: PolySwitch devices

PolySwitch devices help protect against overcurrent or overtemperature by thermally "tripping", which reduces the current flowing through the trace.

Problem: Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)

An electrostatic discharge (ESD event), induced at the time of installation or uninstallation of a memory card, can result in either catastrophic or latent damage of the equipment.
 

Solution: PESD devices

Extremely low capacitance ESD protection devices, such as Raychem PESD devices, help shunt ESD away from sensitive circuitry in electronic devices without inducing signal distortion.
